Motocross with us at SourisValleyMX!
We were even noted in the July 28, 2008 edition of Cops Corner in the Gazette Post - News, Carnduff!!
Here's what the Carnduff R.C.M.P. had to say about us...
"The RCMP would like to commend the dirt track association in Oxbow for forming a club and setting up a great dirt track for them to operate on. This is helping in keeping complaints of vehicles being operated in illegal areas to a minimum. Parents and operators please remember if you are going to this area you still cannot drive in town, on public property, or without a licence as you are still driving illegally to get to this dirt track. Trailering the vehicle is the best and the legal option."
More exposure! This is great!

NEW MOTOCROSS TRACK OPENS IN OXBOW
Gazette Post -- News, Carnduff, Sk

By Megan Buchanan
The South Alameda MX Park located three miles west and three miles south of Oxbow opened its gates to riders for the first time in the middle of June. A lot of hard work and dedication from a number of volunteers went into building the track which will be home to the new Souris Valley MX Bike Club. This project began last fall when Erin Brown and his family moved from Estevan to Oxbow and noticed that the local children needed a place to go to have fun instead of roaming the streets in an endless search to find something exciting to do. Erin and his son had always enjoyed riding and racing and wanted a place close to their new home where they could do that, so they began making plans to build a motocross track and start a motocross club in Oxbow. With help from volunteers, surrounding communities and businesses their dream finally came true.
The new track will provide local motocross enthusiasts and those who wish to learn the sport with the opportunity to have fun and practice their jumps right in their home town. A lot of work has been done to the track and Erin believes that it has serious potential to be a great MX track. A fence with a locking gate has been built around the perimeter of the track and there is room for a pit area. Although they are currently open for business, there is still a lot of work to be done to complete the motocross park. There is some construction left to do on the jumps, corners, and culverts and they plan to build another track on the area north of the main track for young, learning riders to use sometime in the near future.
Erin's Souris Valley MX Club currently has approximately thirty members and are always looking for more to join. The club is open to anyone who wants to ride, and memberships are available at Mick's Stop N Shop and Kosior Tractor in Oxbow. Single membership is $75.00 per year and family membership is $125.00 per year. They have liability insurance and are currently in the process of incorporating tax purposes for donations. Their goal is to eventually become part of the South Corner Racing Circuit which consists of clubs from Estevan, Weyburn and Carlyle, and riders from Manitoba and southern Saskatchewan. They usually run a five round program throughout the year and they hope to get one round in Oxbow for next year.

NEW MOTOCROSS TRACK OPENS
Oxbow Herald

By Marilyn Johnson, Staff
Hard work and determination, along with excellent support from the area, has resulted in a successful project for the Souris Valley MX Club--and needless to say, has also made for a lot of happy dirt bike riders.
Erin Brown, President of the club, said the outline for the 20' wide, two kilometre track has been made, the fence surrounding the 25 acre site has been erected, insurance is in place, and the last mile of road leading to the site has been gravelled. The completion of this work meant the South Alameda MX Park could be officially opened the week of June 15. Erin said some construction remains to be done on jumps and corners, and culverts have to be installed. If everything goes according to plan, expectations are that this work will be completed within a month.
Memberships are required to use the track. These are available at Kosior Tractor and Mick's Stop N Shop in Oxbow. Riders will be given a membership I.D. decal to put on their bikes, and a key for the gate to gain access to the course.
The track is located three miles west and three miles south of Oxbow. A sign will be built to put near the highway so newcomers will know where the track is located.
"The kids are excited, and parents are enjoying the course, too," Erin said. "We are all glad to have a place to ride our dirt bikes." He added that some people from Estevan have also been out to see the course, and have told him how impressed they are.
